Audio-books for 6-8 yr olds
Some can be read younger, some older, but they're all fun.
I've listened to all of these with younger kids in the car too.

Aru Shah and the End of Time: A Pandava Novel, Book 1
Roshani Chokshi
Good characters! My kids (lower elementary age) and I listened to the audio book and they both liked it which is rare. The younger one will yell, "I don't want to listen to books!" but he didn't this time, so it must be really, really, versatile for all age groups. I recommend this for any family to listen to. Best for age 8 or older but we all became obsessed with it.

The BFG
Roald Dahl
Who else remembers this book as a kid? The kids especially loved the scene about whizzpopping aka farting. Now we make whizzpopping jokes. Sure, it starts out with a kid being snatched from their bed in the middle of the night, but it gets fun real fast. Like most of these recommendations, younger kids can listen to it if you have a car full of different ages, they just won't understand but they will be entertained.

The Roald Dahl Audio Collection: Includes Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James & the Giant Peach, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Enormous Crocodile & The Magic Finger
Roald Dahl
I love getting a collection of books packaged inside one audio-book. This contains five Roald Dahl books. You won't have to decide what to listen to for the next 3 hours and 40 minutes of driving your children around plus you're teaching them the joys of reading. Younger kids can enjoy it too. Decision fatigue and zero fighting. You're welcome!

Dragon Masters series
Tracey West
These stories are meant for kindergarten through second grade but even younger kids can enjoy this. If you have a wide range of littles in your car, get these audiobooks! There are 30 books, each roughly 45 minutes which means you don't have to struggle to find what to listen to next. We've listened to it 3 times and we're not bored of them yet.
